In early 2019, I was given the opportunity to create a musical arrangement for a poem by Joe Szakaly. Joe is a friend that I met through my musical endeavors. He has been writing poetry for a number of years, understands the power of words, and clearly writes from the depths of his heart. I respect the authenticity, experience, and honesty that Joe shares in his writing. His poems are intense and heavy. When I was asked to put music to one of his poems, of course I jumped at the chance. Here is the result....

Jesus, where are you now? When I need you most
There's no one around when I need them most
Where's the love you promised? I'm so full of hate
Don't say tomorrow, tomorrow's too late

Maybe the sun won't shine, maybe this world's not mine
Every dream can't come true, what's a dreamer to do?

So much pain in my life that's what I'm here for

This world never gave enough to find the love in me

Some win while others lose I have never won
My blood may run smooth, but what's done is done
Lord, say a prayer now I'll say one for you
