NEW CHAPTER

Hanging out at Macy's Coffee Shop
By the Beaver Street parking lot
Playing my guitar and feeling the sun on my back

People walking all around
Lots of flannels in lots of shades of brown
I met some students they were Lumberjacks

Through the kindness of their hearts they asked
Do you need somewhere to stay? A place to crash?
And for a little bit of time that's just what I did

I found a job delivering auto parts
And another at one of the local bars
I even got my own room at The Hotel Weatherford

Here we go a new chapter
Keep one foot in front of the other
Keep an eye on the weather
Keep the pen to the paper
And be an open book

Tuesday nights at Charley's Bar
You could find all the wanna-be's playing guitar
It was open mic night and I was always there

Trying to be a part of the local scene
I had a lot to learn I was oh so green
But I connected with a kindred soul and we had songs to share

It felt so good just to play along
And when it was my turn I'd sing a song
And through the power of music I knew I had made a good friend

There's a waitress who recently moved here too
And she catches my eye across the room
Be still my young beating heart I wonder what lies ahead

Here we go a new chapter
Keep one foot in front of the other
Keep an eye on the weather
Keep the pen to the paper
And be an open book
